The Ideological Reckoning Coming for Islam
Special note by IBSI Founder & CEO Dumisani Washington
I’ve been speaking out against the persecution of Christians in Africa, including the Arab/Islamic enslavement of Africans, for over 30 years...long before there was social media...long before the deceptive term Islamophobia existed. Since the October 7 massacre of hundreds of Israelis and the subsequent formation of groups like the African-Jewish Alliance, IBSI has seen an increased discussion as well as an increased level of global awareness of how Africans are treated in the region and, specifically, under Islam. This discussion and awareness have been particularly noticeable among the younger generation, which is the main reason why it will only grow.
Islam apologists who have avoided the ideological, prophetic reckoning coming for its imperialist, racist, and oppressive ideology will be very uncomfortable individuals for the foreseeable future. For those in the Israel advocacy space, it will become increasingly difficult not to address Islam and maintain any shred of credibility, again, especially with young people. Simply pointing at jihadists like Boko Haram and al Qaeda and claiming, “that’s not real Islam” or “they’re not real Muslims,” will soon only bring ridicule and scorn. If they’re reading the same Quran, praying the same prayers, observing Ramadan et al, and calling on the name of Allah, they are real Muslims, and other Muslim leaders need to publicly denounce them - with specificity. If they cannot do that, they will not be taken seriously.
