Our Beloved Mama Lydia (Dr. Lydia Meshoe)
On Wednesday morning, January 25th, Dr. Lydia Meshoe, wife of Dr. Kenneth Meshoe, passed away. Mama Lydia was a beacon of light and a respected leader in South Africa and around the world. The Meshoe family issued this statement shortly after Mama’s passing.
It is with great sadness that we announce that Dr. Lydia Meshoe wife to Dr. Kenneth Meshoa MP, beloved mother, mentor and friend, has gone Home to be with the Lord. We cherish your prayers and request privacy at this time.
South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa expressed his sentiments on behalf of the ANC (African National Congress) and the nation.
We join the Meshoe family and the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) in mourning the loss of a leader who was in the prime of her service to the communities and structures in which she realised her own destiny.
May her soul rest in peace as we reflect on her life which, guided by her deep spiritual faith, she dedicated to the empowerment of women and the improvement of socio-economic conditions in various communities.
The Meshoe’s are also founders of DEISI International (Defend, Embrace, Invest-In, and Support Israel), and are steadfast friends of Israel and the Jewish people.
Mama Lydia was one of the two matriarchs of the Washington-Meshoe family. Her daughter, Olga, married Joshua Washington, son of IBSI Founder & CEO, Dumisani Washington, and his wife and IBSI COO, Valerie.
A Home Going Service is scheduled for February 3rd 9:00 am at Hope of Glory Tabernacle 3050 Roets Drive, Volsloorus, South Africa.
Our hearts are very heavy, but we indeed take comfort in the fact that Mama Lydia is in the presence of the living God. So, we will see her again in the New Jerusalem.
